K1 Multiple Used On Commercial Cover From Shanghai, China To Lake Forest, Ill. For Sale
U.S. 2 cent overprint on 1 cent Offices in China, Scott Catalog #K1 multiple on a large cover. There is a block of 12, a vertical pair, a strip of 3 & a single paying the registered rate from the U.S. Postal Agency in China to Lake Forest, Ill. in the United States. The stamps are cancelled or tied by the "U.S. Postal Agency * Shanghai, China * R.D." hand stamp. There is some folding to the cover and some abrasion. The origin back stamp is no longer present, but the Chicago & Lake Forest receiving hand stamps of Feb. 17 & Feb. 18, 1920 show plainly. A few of the stamps show flaws including being folded over the edge of the cover. Part of the sender's wax seal is still extant on the back of the cover. This is an impressive multiple and a very nice commercial use.
