A classic and uniquely original Vietnam War time period USMC officer\'s visor hat insignia pair. He joined the US Marine Corps in 1949 out of college ROTC program here at U of NM. He served in the Korean War, but I could not find the history of that. In his continuing career in the US Marines he did 5 tours in Vietnam and rose to the rank of lieutenant colonel (silver oak leaf) in command of the 1st Light Anti-Aircraft Battalion at Da Nang AB. This was a tie tack that was amongst his personal military items.... Sadly he passed away several years ago. This came directly from his wife\'s estate late last summer.
Condition Note: These Eagle, Globe & Anchor on visor hat insignias are in Fine+ to Very Fine condition, almost museum grade, and have no flaws or major issues that I could find... The Sterling Silver Officer\'s EGA is marked so and was made by N.S. Meyer of New York - the premier maker of military insignia from the Civil War until they went out of business around 2006. The gold EGA is unmarked as to maker or composition and is about 1-1/2\" by 1-1/2 inches... All photos are without flash.
This rare mid Vietnam War (USMC) period, 1st LAAM Lieutenant Colonel\'s Sterling Silver visor hat EGA on and the gold visor hat EGA are being sold strictly as-is, are not reproductions and are absolutely original to the period, circa 1965-1969 when the veteran served multiple tours at Da Nang AB, South Vietnam as a member of 1st LAAM. Unfortunately, there was no family member present at the estate.....There are photos to explicitly show the condition that is described above. Please make additional photo request or ask questions well before the last day of the sale.
