Large 19th C Aesthetic Doulton Flow Blue *blue Iris* Bowl ~ Victorian C 1880's:
This is a beautiful large antique Doulton Burslem Flow Blue bowl in the Aesthetic Blue Iris pattern, dating from the 1880's.
The large bowl is beautifully decorated with blue flowers with a butterfly over head that have a sponged-effect golden glow around them. The Doulton artist was John Broad, his monogram is on the base The blue border has an Oriental hand-painted gilt pattern and the bowl is a lovely rich purplish blue coloured glaze.
The bowl is in very good antique condition with no chips, cracks or restoration and when tapped it rings like a bell, just as it should. It measures 9" diameterx 4" deep. There is a tiny bit of wear to the glaze on the rim commensurate with age and it has no staining.
A lovely Doulton Flow Blue Iris bowl that would grace any collection.
