I have a fantastic old antique WEIGHT DRIVEN, Smaller CARVED SHIELD CUCKOO clock . 30 HOUR movement. ALL ORIGINAL! amazing. GOOD QUALITY . its in GOOD condition overall... BEAUTIFUL DEEP RICH WOOD TONES! solid WALNUT..has a deep rich caramel reddish tone to it. A natural wood clock originally, this clock was no stained dark like many, BEAUTIFUL WOOD on this one, VERY ORNATE UNUSUAL MATCHING HANDS
AT THE TOP OF THE HOUR, and the halves THE CUCKOO EMERGES AND CALLS THE HOURS. We believe this clock represents the earlier transitional period between the plain plank style clocks, and the later carved style full case clocks.. its a earlier shield style movement and a beautiful carved shield. a RARE piece indeed. Its the only example we have seen like this... .. ALL ORIGINAL BONE NUMERALS OVER THE 5\" DIAL and in decent condition missing a few minor bits. We thought it wise to let them be as they are original. . it measures 16\" tall and 11\" wide..... this clock has been well taken care of for the last 150++ years!!!... TAKE A LOOK AT THE PICS! wonderful SUPER HIGH QUALITY AND HIGH RELIEF WOOD carving design to the case VERY ORNATE! NO BREAKS REPAIRS OR MISSING PIECES but for one spot visible only from the back. see pics. . WONDERFUL ALL ORIGINAL AND VERY CLEAN CONDITION. I will not date this clock exactly but i make it to be about 1860\'s.
. .A wonderful AND UNUSUAL MAPLE LEAF AND VINE DESIGN in full relief make a wonderful and rare example on this one. An amazing carving.. (see photos) the big old 100% ORIGINAL wooden cuckoo bird with moving parts and hand painted, PAINT IS IN PRETTY GOOD CONDITION ON THE BIRD. early VERY LARGE HEAVY WOOD plated movement is in excellent condition showing very little wear to it. .. ....VERY CLEAN adjustable VERY ORNATE UNUSUAL MATCHING CARVED pendulum WONDERFUL WORKMANSHIP ON THE PENDULUM! . flute pipes ARE DEAD ORIGINAL AND IN GREAT SHAPE, just recovered with proper goatskin leather AS YOU CAN SEE. , very deep real sounding cuckoo call..hard to find in new clocks...sounds like a real cuckoo bird! ... . please allow the pics to answer questions you have and feel free to ask. .
