~ Antique 19th c. Handmade Silk Jacquard Hourglass-Shaped Pincushion ~ AAFA

Stunning and large handmade floral silk jacquard pincushion.

This very striking pincushion is edged in black glass beaded pins.

The hourglass shape is formed around a wood base,

which is covered in a geometric and floral silk damask.

With its unique shape, this pincushion is a one-of-a-kind treasure.

Purchased in Hallowell, Maine in the 1980s.

Circa: 1880s

Condition:

GOOD

Wear to silk jacquard appropriate to age and use,

with pinholes thru out top surface.

Jacquard color is bright and sharp without fading.

There is some discoloration to bottom fabric,

as one corner appears to have gotten wet at some point.

No loss to filling.

Corners on reverse side are all revealing wood base beneath.

No stitch loss, raw edges, or repairs.
