This sale is for an absolutely beautiful piece of Japanese pottery dating to the Meiji period. The vase of Satsuma pottery is heavy painted with a very interesting design around the body done in Gosu blue and grisaille. The top and bottom rims are accented with gilt and gosu blue scrolling and flowers. Detail in the work is incredible as can be seen in the photos and is signed on the base. We have not been able to identify the artist but it obviously was done by a talented craftsman. The vase stands an impressive 11.2 inches (28.5cm) tall and is in excellent condition with no damage. Just some very light wear to the gilt accents on the top rim.
