GJPaw salesis very pleased to offer a Large Chinese White Glazed Cizhou Style Vase. The vessel is well potted of a tell, slender meiping form. The surface is covered with a warm cream colored glaze that has a beautiful, faint craquelure. This piece measures 16 inches tall (40.64). The
vase is well-potted stoneware made inthe Cizhou Style of the Song Dynasty,
11-12th centuries. The Meiping was first made of
stoneware during the Tang Dynasty, and was originally used to store
wine, but found favor in it's ability to beautifully display a single
plum blossom - and this is where the Meiping vase got its name. Overall, it is a very nice piece and would be a great addition to any collection of traditional Chinese art, porcelain or ceramics. It has enormous presence because of its size and color. It was originally collected in China and was part of an important collection of Chinese ceramics.
