This impressive frame is in nice antique condition and currently holds a chromolithograph of a 15th century scene by Italian artist Luigi Crosio (1835-1915) titled \"Songs of Youth\" under glass. Both the frame and print are c 1890. The outer dimension of the frame are 40\" by 32\". The glass, and therefore the size of the opening, measures 28\" by 20\". The frame can also be used to display another piece of art. It appears that the frame always had a wood backing the print (the current wood back is a newer replacement), as the wood grain transferred to the back of the print. You can clearly see the pattern of the wood on the back, and there are a few dark spots that transferred through to the front of the print. The frame appears to be all carved wood with no gesso. The frame has had some losses to the wood carving, and some touch-up gold paint. There are also some light scratches/nicks on the frame, most notably on the raised ribbed white wood area. In spite of any flaws, it\'s a beautiful frame with incredible carving that displays well.
