This Beautiful Lord Elgin Pocket watch witha Wadsworth case was one of a thousand made in 1922. It was given to my grandfather, who was a 32nddegree Mason, by the Mt. Masada Masonic Lodge (Tuckahoe New York) in 1923.

The face displays tree trunkstyle numbers marked with an acorn. The back of the watch engraved into the platinumis the Compass, opened over a 90-degree graduated arc with a Sun in the center,what my research has found is that this is the Masonic symbol for a Past Master.

The inside of the back lid isstamped “WADSWORTH, PLATINUM ON 14K GOLD, PATENTED 1023395”

The inside case cover has “LordElgin” stamped near the top. And below that is engraved: “Presented to W JuliusBuckman –MASTER 1923-by the Brethren of MT. MASADA, No. 902 F.&A.M.” On theback of the inside cove it says “WADSWORTH, PLATINUM ON 14K GOLD”

The back of the movement isstamped “Lord Elgin” “21 JEWELS” “EIGHT ADJUSTMENTS” and the Serial Number “25505259”

The watch fob chain is verybeautifully designed and very heavy measuring approximately 17 inches long. (Iweighed it at approximately 20 grams.) It is 14kt gold, though the findings oneither end are very obviously plated. (see photos)

Cosmetically the watch seems tobe in very good shape. There is one small “ding on the back of the outside case(circled in red) There are light scratches on the body. The “crystal” seems tobe scratch free.

I have wound it up and it seemsto work fine, all of the hands move. It could probably use a cleaning because after winding I had tonudge the balance wheel before it would start moving. It was fine after that.
