LOWELL DAVIS WARM MILK ORNAMENT BY BORDER FINE ARTS SCOTLAND FOR SCHMID. This ornament was issued in 1991. This porcelain cat ornament is the third edition in a series of four entitled “Friends of Mine”. This ornament is hand-crafted and hand painted by the skilled artisans at the Border Fine Arts Studio in Scotland. Painter, sculptor, and spinner of tall tales, Lowell Davis is truly a legend in his own time. He captures rural America of the 1930’s—the fast fading days of the family farm, the values of the simple life, and the good humor of a gentler time. Lowell draws his inspiration for his work from the vintage farm in the foothills of Missouri’s Ozark Mountains, which the artist has completely restored. According to Davis, when the old barn cat had kittens, she raised them wild in the barn. But all the time that he milks the cows, he catches glimpses of them out of the corner of his eye waiting till he poured them the WARM MILK. Hence this ornament is entitled WARM MILK. The dimensions are 2-1/8” H and 2-1/4\" W. This striped cat is so cute, and so wonderfully detailed. His facial features reflect the quality of Border of Fine Arts. He is proudly standing next to his bowl, and anxiously waiting for the milk. He is colored in earth tone shades of brown. The name Lowell Davis is incised on the back of the ornament. On the side, it is dated 1991. On the bottom, it has BFA (Border Fine Arts), Scotland, Schmid. It also comes with a red ribbon for hanging. It comes in the original box, and it is brand new, and has never been displayed. Lovely collectible, and so real-looking.
