Received this drum back in the 70\'s and has been in my collection ever since. It will be offered only one time here on .
Ludwig 1960-63 Supraphonic Snare Drum, and here are the features.
-5x14 Shell-No serial number Keystone Badge-Flanges are not rolled under-Snare beds ARE crimped-Hoops are COB(chrome over brass)-drum weighs slightly over 7.5 pounds-magnet test is negative on hoops, lugs, shell(no stick)-Baseball bat muffler with Red Felt-all original including Ludwig snare wires-10 beautiful Imperial Lugs-no dings no dents
Based on all the experts on the web and my own experience, I conclude that this beautiful drum is one of the first batch of COA because of the snare bed small crimps seen on the COB versions before the crimping was stopped, around 63 and after while still having the COB hoops.
The weight runs between the lighter 5-6 pound Ludaloy version and the heavier COB at 8 pounds plus..........The shell is outrageously Supra-Nice with no ptting and flaking which gives it the appearance of a well kept COB, so you get the preferred sound of a COA with the looks and features of a Super Luddie.
Honestly, this is a tough drum to sell, and it is priced for the select few who want to make the investment of a Classic Ludwig Supraphonic nearing 60 years old and looking like a teenager...............I will ship free to the lower 48.
