It\'s a high-end Dobbs from the 1960\'s, with a 1 5/8\" brim finished in the Guild Edge (known also as a Cavanagh Edge, a welt molded by hand during the felting process rather than folded over and sewn down later). The felt is charcoal gray, with the luxuriously soft texture of high-quality fur felt. The center-dent crown stands 4 1/4\" tall, set off by a deluxe black 1 3/4\" ribbon hatband with a fine satiny weave. It\'s also equipped with a wind trolley cord, that button-on-a-string that tethers the hat to your buttonhole on windy days. The crown is lined in white satin, with the \"Royal Coachman by DOBBS\" imprint on the center panel; the same imprint is gold-stamped on the black leather sweatband, which also has a white lace threaded around the back. In any case, it\'s a high-end Dobbs for its era, apparently from the 1960\'s, complete with a 1 5/8\" brim finished in the Guild Edge (known elsewhere as the Cavanagh Edge, a welt molded by hand during the felting process rather than folded over and sewn down later—a true luxury touch).
       The felt is done in classic charcoal gray, and boasts that luxuriously soft texture that assures you that you\'re dealing with high-quality fur felt here. The center-dent crown stands 4 1/4\" tall, set off by a deluxe black 1 3/4\" ribbon hatband with a fine satiny weave, something like the lapels on your tuxedo. As a luxury hat, it\'s also equipped with a wind trolley cord, that button-on-a-string that tethers the hat to your overcoat buttonhole on windy days.
       The crown is lined in shimmering white satin, with that seldom-seen \"Royal Coachman by DOBBS\" imprint in black, red and gold on the center panel; the same imprint is gold-stamped on the black leather sweatband, which is also fitted with a white lace threaded around the back, originally a feature intended to adjust the fit.
       Size: The hat is tagged as a size 6 7/8, but hold the phone . . . the inside circumference at the sweatband is about 21 3/4\", which means you could even try it as a snug size 7. It might even stretch a bit further.
       Condition: Lightly used, but still very fresh and clean for its age. A previous owner wrote his name on the lining with a marker and somebody later blacked it out.
