Large impressive charger, well decorated in underglaze blue, overglaze red, turquoise, aubergine, yellow, black and gold.Excellent fine quality hand decorated piece, Scholars reading books and scrolls with boy attendants/ servants, outer edge has geometric, flower and Buddhist symbol designs as pictured.​Japanese porcelain, stilt marks left in glaze underside formed during manufacture when dishes stacked in kiln on small stilts and underside rim decorated with floral spray underglaze blue design, red seal mark of maker, possibly Hizen Arita kiln, Meiji period late 19thC.
