This is a great looking large antique late 19th century Black Forest Adirondack primitive Folk Art frame.

It dates circa 1880s or 1890s.

Overall it measures 35 1/4 inches x 46 inches (89.5 cm x 116.8 cm). The back opening size measures 28 inches x 38 3/4 inches (71.1 cm x 98.4 cm). The molding width measures 1 5/8 inches (4.1 cm).

As I look at the wood, I\'m convinced it\'s Oak. But from my understanding, this is referred to as Black Forest Oak.

As you can see in the photos, this frame needs to be put together. But it\'s very simple. It\'s in four pieces and just needs to be glued and clamped. I purchased it like this and have left it apart for shipping purposes.

The frame is in very good condition. There were originally two wrought iron hanging hooks attached to the back, but the ring is missing on one of them. It has some tiny scattered old blue paint dots on it. There is some light wear, marks and scratches to a few sections of the wood and some tiny scattered nicks. Overall though, it looks beautiful.

There is no glass.

It would be great for an old oil painting, drawing, folk art work, etc.

It weighs 6 pounds 6 1/2 ounces (2.9 kg).

It has what I always look for in frames, that wonderful old world look!
