LARGE ARTISAN MADE PROTECTIVE \'EYE
STERLING SILVER RING
This wonderful hand-hammered \'eye\' ring is big and beautiful. It features two vintage coins from British West Africa, the large penny and smaller tenth-penny. Both are made of nickel. They were minted with large holes in the center, into which the artisan fitted brass washers to stabilize them on the rivet. Stacked on top of them is a cast crinoid fossil fragment made of bronze, a brass washer, and a sterling silver rivet. The big, curved and decorated bezels that support the coin stack are made of etched nickel and sterling silver, which was hammered on an anvil of desert rock. They have a gentle, upward curve that makes the ring very comfortable for its size.
Beneath is the shank, also of sterling silver and hammered on desert rock. It\'s attached to the bezel with two sterling rivets for stability, and is connected at the base with a third rivet. You\'ll notice that it\'s wider at the top and tapers at the base, which also enhances the comfort and stabilty of the fit. This one looks fabulous on a ring finger or middle finger.
All of the metal components are cut, shaped and finished by hand using simple tools; only a mechanical drill was used. The ring was lightly oxidized and burnished to a soft shine. You can clean it with a little soap and water if desired. Fits a ring size of 8 1/2. best. The largest bezel measures 2 1/8\" x 1 3/8\".
