Big bold, and impressive, this is a large one of a kind handmade lion claw pendant featuring a large, genuine African lion claw set in a very substantial, highly textured sterling silver mounting embellished with bold sculpted texture. (this is a natural claw complete with flaws and natural features. This one came to me with a depression on both sides whcih I filled with resin to inhibit the asorption of moisture. I\'ve also reflected this with a lower price)

Animal totems fascinate me. The idea of augmenting ones effectiveness in the world by drawing on a spirit from nature, or do we simply draw those qualities we admire from within, and the totem is a sort of inducement? I don\'t know, but it\'s been going on a long time. I came across a guy in a flea market who had a box full of this stuff. His father had been a taxidermist and these were the left overs from 50 years ago. I didn\'t know what I\'d ever do with them, but I knew I had to have them, so I traded him some jewelry and decided one day I\'d do something nice to sort of honor the wonderful creatures who once produced them.

The design is all original. You won\'t see it anywhere else. Made to last more than one lifetime of real world wear. It\'s nice and heavy. Plenty of silver in this one. I don\'t skimp.

A LITTLE ABOUT ME & BRAVE RELICS:

This is jewelry you won\'t see anywhere else, because I make it myself, one at a time in my own studio, to my own standards.

I got tired of designing \"fine\" jewelry and decided to go out on my own to make what I really love: talismanic, crazy jewelry, archaic interplanetary jewelry, jewelry with its own story. I like pieces which haven\'t been denatured like most of what you see in the shop windows, pieces which still show the hand of the maker, substantial pieces, full of texture and character, and a little bit of wonder built in.

As a gemologist you can be sure the stones I use are correctly represented, and expertly chosen. I\'m always looking for unusual and special stones which I enjoy combining in unexpected ways. We tend to forget that these are products of the earth. The stones I like to use have some of that character still evident.

Custom designs are welcome, or you may have an old piece of jewelry which has been sitting around for years because the style doesn\'t suit you. Perhaps you\'d like to use the stones and the metal in a new piece more to your taste.
