Up for sale is this Vintage Antique Jewelry Box that I believe is a Thoren\'s. The reason I say this is because I have done research and the liningwasthat of a Thoren\'sbefore ithad been totally restored. The box is 3 1/2 inches deep, by 8 inches x11 1/2 inches, top measurements. It is large and heavy and can holda lot of jewelry. The key is no longer with the box, but a key to fit the box is likely a common key used in thesekind of boxes that fit several. The clasp shuts nicely.Cleaning the outside of the box was quite a challenge. I think it came out really well,my goal was to change only what was necessary. I managed to clean with a special chemical and toothbrush, and lots of cloth. There is only one corner that some of the paper had weakened on the outside. I glued the corner as best I could to prevent further damage. I applied a cute wooden brooch to the outside right hand corner of the box as decoration and felt it went nicely with the restored lining. I would have loved to have kept the purple satin lining with similar design as outside of the box, but it was too severly damaged, stained and barely recognized as belonging to the box. I also took out all the shelves, lining structure, everything and cleaned and cleaned everything over and over again, then applied a light brown coffee colored suede look material to the box and structural portions of the box. I used red burgundy ribbon to line the edges of the box. Then lastly applied a pink ribbon made of lace as a bow to the upper center of the box. The upper shelf structural section is attached well and totally intact, but has a loose look of cloth to place jewelry on similar to a cloth underneathe a piece of jewelry look. This is the look that I intended for the top, loose. The bottom portion of the box is more intact to the center structural integrity of the box. The box is very old, likely much older than the 40s, needed a major overhaul, totally redone with the intent and desire to keep the original look, or the whole outside would not look the way it does. It is mainly on the inside that I was unable to presrerve what was of the boxes design or material pattern I should say. The box isn\'t spanking new, shiny cherry wood or anything like that. It is a Vintage Heirloom from the past, totally redone with respect, care and love. I hope the person who buys this jewelry box will cherish it for it\'s character, history and past love. I\'m sure who ever owned this box is long gone and passed away. Sure would be nice if someone could love this box the way it had been loved in the past.
