Large Old Majolica Pottery Humidor Tobacco Jar. The Tobacco jar is in the form of an Arab with red lips. His head is covered with an elaborate fabric shape with attached fringe. The neckline is a light green color. The jar has a glossy finish, except for the face which has a matte finish. The base has impressed number marks.
SIZE: 7 3/4 inches high x 5 1/4 inches wide.
CONDITION: The bottom part of the inner rim on the cover has a nick -- the cover rim has several nicks, some with applied color -- there is a tiny nick on the top fabric fringe -- the jar rim has a few very tiny nicks -- there is a hairline on the upper right side of the face -- the green neckline has a chip -- the base rim has nicks and small chips -- all consistent with age and use.
Great old jar -- wonderful display piece.
