Antique India-Mughal- Painting
This is a striking, gorgeous, antique painting from India. I am not sure of the age. It is in beautiful mint condition in my opinion. Painted on a fine cloth, I believe it is silk (see photo for stamp on the fabric). It is so appealing! Wonderful brushtrokes, beautiful faces... so nice.
Large size, the entire piece measures 35 x 51. Four women, ten cows, and one flute playing god Krisha. This would look lovely in a variety of settings, including a home shrine, alter, or a meditation center.
This painting is very appealing, with beautiful women (beautiful detail! of saris and beads etc. ) and cows coming to the black Krishna , who is playing a flute (it is hard to see the flute in my pictures).
The painting features beautiful foliage, lotus flowers, a sunrise (or sunset), sacred cows, the women are coming carrying gifts, for Krishna. This painting is SO well done, tiny brush strokes in the faces. so nice. Appealing border. Ready to hang with a dowel rod.
My photos are of this cloth piece hanging, so the photo of faces may be distorted because it is not lying completely flat. I believe the color and dramatic effect is much better in person, the pics are a bit washed out compared to original. This is a lovely antique painting of great meaning.
