Hand Carved Primitive ~ Madonna and Child ~
Nice primitive detail & color on this wonderful piece of Latin American Folk Art. Very good condition other than the base has slight cracking. One free hand of the Madonna (other hand holding the Child) and both hands of the Child are carved separately and fitted with a peg to attach to the arm (common practice even for very old Santos).
Age and origin unknown (probably Mexico or Guatemala), no marks. Not an antique, but nicely carved and painted, solid wood.
