This is a Chinese traditional 6 hook coat / hat rack. I\'m not sure about the type of wood that it\'s made from.

It comes with openwork carving of two dragons with intertwined tails in a figure 8 also known as an infinity symbol and forming a pleasant arc!

Chinese nobles tossed their discarded robes over a garment rack to keep them fresh and protected from wrinkles.

Racks were once necessary because Chinese architectural tradition did not provide for closet space due to cost and space.
