A rare `duplex` escapement silver pocket watch in stunning condition.
Watch is large & heavy, is an open face,crown wound & set
gents pocket watch, circa 1900s - 1920s.
CaseisStirling Silver and is marked as such.
Case has an engine turned back with anice blank cartouche, and a very heavy
coin edge. Caseis in excellent condition, there are no dings or damage and
there are no inscriptionsor dedications.
Case is marked `Stirling Silver` `26759` `N E` within a heart shape.
The original mineral glass looks perfect.
All covers shut very tight, has a fine heavy silver bow & pendant.
The winding crown does have some wear to the silver, see photos.
The pure white enamel dialis near perfect. HasblackRoman numerals & recessed
seconds dial in Arabic. The hands are blued steel in the `spade design & are very nice.
The movement is a 3/4 plate American `Duplex` escapement.
This is well gilded & in near mint condition. The balance cock has a
nice engraved `heel` depicting feathers. Balance is jewelled, screws nicely blued.
Movement is marked `The Waterbury Watch Co` `Waterbury Conn. U.S.A.`
also `Patented` with their logo & numbered 99173.
Watch has been stripped down, cleaned & serviced.
Size - 52 .0 mm dia. 68.0 mm over winding crown x 16.3 mm thick & weighs104 grams.
Watch is crown wound & set by depressing the crown.
Note - these `Duplex` pocket watches are friction rest escapements & mayrequire
a twist to start after winding, this watch keeps good time foran antique watch for 24 hours.
