Offered at a buy-it-now is a large and lovely Great Lakes Indian Porcupine Quill Birch Bark Basket Box with a solid birch bark base and three sweetgrass rims, one at bottom of lid, one at top of base and one along the bottom. The design is a flower with fancy quillwork on sides of bottom.

This is a stunning 6\" across, 3\" tall basket and was made by the renowned Manitoulin Quill artist, Helen Trudeau. It is in nearly perfect condition. Just two quills at the very bottom which hold the sweetgrass rim have separated (see last picture). Included is a bit of information about the artist as well as a picture of another one of her baskets, featured in the Ojibwe Cultural Foundations\' booklet about Ojibwe quill artists. Her quill boxes have been featured in British Columbia and Ottawa museums. I\'m happy to combine shipping on all collectibles. If the rate is for first class, it is possible several items will push your item over 16 oz, so it will have to go priority. I will try to save as much as possible while ensuring your item arrives safely. Sorry, however, that I can\'t combine books or other media items with collectibles due to media mail shipment restrictions. Our Native American and First Nation items have been collected from various places--sales, estate sales, pow wows and craft stores from our travels. Many of our Quill Boxes come from Manitoulin Island, where we spend part of each summer. We hate to let some of these items go but with our children in college, it\'s time to liquidate some of the collection and share our items with others.
