Late 19th Century Palais Royale Watch & Ring Holder:
$85.00

French Palais Royale Ormolu and Mother-Of-Pearl shaped pocket watch stand and ring dish. From one of the earliest shopping centers in Europe with over 145 shops. Considered a souvenir for the elite as located across the street from the theater. Palais Royale was built in 1629 and was occupied by Duc d\'Orleans and members of his entourage required especially luxurious articles for their toilette, travel and other needs and so talented craftsmen were employed within the vicinity of the palace to provide them. The products of these workshops proved so popular that they were made on a commercial basis and sold to tourists as they passed through Paris. Unfortunately the 5 point mother-of-pearl leaf on front below seat has broken off. Still a lovely piece. Measures 5.5\" high x 2.5\" wide x 2.5\" deep.
