Miniature map after Abraham Ortelius (1527-1598), initially published in \'Epitome du Theatre du Monde\', a reduced format atlas favoured by travellers. This map here is from an Italian \'pirate\' edition, \'Il Theatre del Mondo\' which was published in Venice in 1655. Maps from this atlas very rarely appear on the open market and always command a very high price of around £150.
