Natural Aquamarine

Cute little hand crafted Sterling Silver Frog ring set with a natural aquamarine; the birthstone for March. I will make this ring when you order it. Each aquamarine is about 6mm x 4mm x 2.5mm, weighs .45 to .50 carats. There are some minor flaws in these stones, which can be seen with magnification. On the ring are 2 little frogs holding the aquamarine between them. The aquamarine is set in an elegant hand crafted crown bezel setting. The frogs measure about 5/16\" (8mm) nose to tail, and 1/4\" (6.5mm) wide. The shank measures about 2.6mm wide and 1.3mm thick, and is stamped Sterling inside.

I will make the ring in the size you specify when you order it, any size between U.S. size 3 and 12, in full, half, or quarter sizes. I will have it made and ready to ship within 3 to 5 days of your paid order and indication of ring size. You MUST include the ring size with your payment or in an message within 1 day of your order and payment. If you have not indicated what size you want within 2 days, your order will be canceled. I can not make the ring until you tell me what size to make it, and I can not send it to you until it is made. It can not be made smaller than 3. Aquamarine is blue beryl. The mineral beryl can occur in several different colors. When it is blue, it is called Aquamarine. Pink is Morganite, and yellow is called Golden Beryl or Heliodor. Red beryl is rare, and often called red emerald. Green beryl is called emerald. The mineral beryl is a beryllium aluminium cyclosilicate with the chemical formula Be3Al2(SiO3)6. Pure beryl is colorless, like a quartz crystal. The different colors of beryl are caused by different metal ion impurities in the crystal lattice. The blue of aquamarine is caused by Fe2+ iron ions. Fe3+ ions cause beryl to be yellow giving us heliodor. Pink is caused by Mn2+ ions, and red by Mn3+ ions. The green of emerald is due to trace amounts of chromium and sometimes vanadium.

Aquamarine is named for it\'s color. The name aquamarine comes from the Latin aqua marina which means \"water of the sea\". It is mined most places that beryl is found. Major sources include Brazil, Columbia, Zambia, Madagascar, Malawi, Tanzania, and Kenya. In the United States, aquamarine can be found in Wyoming, Colorado, Utah, Idaho, and several other states. Aquamarine has a Mohs Hardenss of 7.5, Specific Gravity of 2.63 - 2.91, and Refractive Index of 1.577-1.583.

Metaphysically Speaking:

Aquamarine was name given this gem by the Romans, who believed it gave protection to sailors on the water, and for fishermen it would bring about a good catch. It is still used today by travelers for protection while traveling over the waters. It has a calming, soothing, cleansing affect on the body, nerves, and psyche. It enhances clarity of mind, and aids in creative self-expression. A strong physical/emotional/mental balancer, it helps banish fears and phobias, and is excellent to use with meditation as it is a conduit to expressing Universal Truths. Aquamarine is the birthstone for March, is associated with Aquarius in the Zodiac, and is aligned to the throat Chakra.
