For sale is this collection of Texas Special Locomotives and Passenger Cars, all new, in their original boxes and shipping cartons. If you are the winning buyer you will receive the following locomotives and passenger cars. Lionel 6-38100 is an AB set of EMD F3s and Lionel 6-38103 is an add-on F3A. Lionel built these in anticipation of its Postwar Celebration series recreating the classic 1954 Texas Special which was produced until 1955. While this train was billed as the pride and glory of the southwest and run by the SLSF and MKT railroads the Santa Fe trains were a lot more popular and this led to the rarity of the Texas Special train sets. Features of the 2 powered A locomotives are two almost indestructible Pullmor Motors, illuminated headlights and numberboards and diecast chassis, trucks, fuel tanks and pilot. Authentic RailSounds are also part of the package as well as electrocouplers...of course the most striking feature of these locomotives is the outstanding red and white paint scheme and the bright silver trucks. Of course, there is also this great collecion of passenger cars consisting of 3 Lionel sets. Set 6-29129 is a four car passenger train set consisting of Vista Dome 29130 (J Pickney Henderson), Coaches 29131 (Edward Burleson) and 29132 (David G. Barnett) and Observation 29133 (Stephen F. Austin). Set 6-39118 is a Station Sounds Diner (Garland) and Set 6-39166 consists of Combine 31967 Anson B. Jones and Diner 31968 (Sam Houston). All cars consist of extruded aluminum bodies, interior illumination and passenger silhouettes, and magnetic couplers. The cars are finished in red and bright aluminum and its appearance is absolutely striking. Now it will take O-31 curves for this set to operate as intended but honestly, if you have smaller curves it is worth it to replace them just to operate this set. Finally, I am not a Lionel guy...more HO brass...but if I owned one complete Lionel train set this would be it. As I am also not one to wander all over the place looking for one car here ans one locomotive there having all of this Texas Special stuff here...in one place is absolutely perfect.
