Welcome. Foryour consideration is a large original oil on canvas landscape painting by listed New York/France artist Eugene LaForet (1931-). This luminist snow scene is signed by the artist on the lower right front and verso it has the original gallery label on the wooden stretcher. It is in very good condition with a few very small specks of paint loss. Unframed it measures 24\" x 36\" and together with the frame (which is included) it measures 32\" x 44\".
As for the artist, Eugene LaForet (1931-) was born in Europe andreceived his training in Berlin, Paris and Munich. He moved to New York where he set up his studio in the city on the west side of Lexington Avenue just below 57th. He was known as the only artist who painted in full view of the public in his own store. He sold his creations,usually hot off the easel. He painted with oils and preferred nature scenes done in a realistic manner.
