Presentedis a fantastic little Chinese enameled copper rectangular dish or planter decorated quitew beautifully with lively figures. This is a great design! These active figures look marvelous! The figures are set among trees and grasses. The enamel is turquoise, cobalt blue, rose-plum, and light bllue, all set on brown textured background.

The corners of the dish or planter sweep up and out. The planter stands on four feet. The piece is enameled on the inside with a lovely shade of translucent blue, showing through to the etched design. The shape of the scenes can be seen on this side also.

The underside of the piece is marked China. It is probably from the late 1800s or early 1900s.

There is some loss to the enamel to one area on the interior of the dish, probably due to receiving a ding on the outside. The rest of the enamel seems to have retained its place and does not show signs of wear and appears to be in great condition.

The piece is in the form of a planter and could be used as that. You could also serve snack foods in it, or candy, or simply enjoy the lovely lines and superb decoration in your own home!
