Offered for sale is a very nice watercolor of Loch Lomond by John Simpson Spence. The watercolor is signed but not dated. Spence died in 1936, so the painting dates before that.

Spence was an artist who exhibited his works. A few of his works are on the internet and they show that he painted churches, farmhouses and landscapes.

This is approx. 9 1/4\" x 6 1/4\" in size, not counting the frame. We did not want to tear open the back to get the exact measurements.

We bought this in 1957 on our honeymoon trip. My father-in-law framed it for us. It has been behind glass all this time, soit is in very good condition with only two tiny foxing spots at the upper right as shown in the photo.

This is a lovely painting of Loch Lomond showing the pier and the tiny island.
