I am cleaning out my parents’ house of 60 years’ worth ofstuff. I have here A Huge Lot of 39 Vintage 1930’s SHINY BRITE MERCURY GLASSChristmas TREE ORNAMENTS with ORIGINAL BOXES. My mother always told us that these were theornaments from my father’s childhood, that my grandmother (her mother-in-law)gave the ornaments to my parents when my parents were first married. So based on that info, I would guess they arefrom the 1930’s (my dad was born in 1928).These ornaments have seen a lotof use so you are most certainly buying them as is! But they are all still intact. I cannot say that these are all the ones thatoriginally came in these exact boxes but I think they are all from about thesame time span and many are in fact SHINY-BRITE as the boxes say. They all have their tops and also each onestill had a vintage hook in it as well. Someof the tops have oxidized.

There are threeboxes here:

The first 11” by 8 ½” by 2 ¾” box that saysSHINY BRITE GLASS Christmas TREE ORNAMENTS Main Office & Display Rooms MaxEckhardt & Sons, Inc. 45 East 17th Street New York City”. The box bottom is in good condition but doeshave one ripped corner. The box top has two corners that ripped and have beentaped. Included in this box are 13 Ornaments, all round:
- 2Large Balls – 1 Red, 1 Silver - about 2 ¾” in diameter, the tops say “MADE INUSA”
- 1Pale Green Large Ball about 2 ¼” in diameter, the top says, “SHINY BRITE MADEIN USA”
- 1Pale Gold Large Ball about 2 ¼” in diameter, the top says, “MADE IN USA”
- 1Silver Frosted Ball with Indents about 2” in diameter, the base of the ball issilver but it is frosted with white around the center, a yellow frosted stripe aboutthe white and a hot pink frosted stripe below the white and on either side is adecorative indentation that is colored a pretty blue green, the top says, “SHINYBRITE MADE IN USA”
- 1Clear Glass Ball tinted pale blue about 2” in diameter with two white stripespainted around it and hanging in the center of the ornament is silver tinselstring. The tops says “MADE IN USA”(very oxidized, hard to see).
- 1Clear Glass with Painted Stripes Ball about 2” in diameter with a white,yellow, pink and blue stripe painted around it.The top says, “MADE IN USA”.
- 2Clear Bluish/Green Glass with Painted Stripes Ball about 2” in diameter. One has a thin white, blue, yellow and hotpink stripe around it and the other a thin yellow, thick hot pink and a thinwhite stripe around it. with a white, yellow, pink and blue stripe paintedaround it. The tops say, “MADE IN USA”.
- 2Round – 1 blue, 1 red – Balls about 2 ¼” in diameter with Indentations on bothsides that creates a pretty flower pattern on either side of each ornament. Themetal tops of these two do not say anything.
- 1Small Round Red Ball about 1 ½” in diameter with three thin stripes paintedaround it, white, green and white. Nomarkings on the small oxidized metal top.
- 1Small round solid Blue Ball about 1 ½” in diameter. No markings on the small dark metal top.

The second 11” by 8 ½” by 2 ¾” box that saysSHINY BRITE GLASS Christmas TREE ORNAMENTS Main Office & Display Rooms MaxEckhardt & Sons, Inc. 45 East 17th Street New York City”. The box bottom is in good condition, cornersare all intact. BUT THERE IS NO BOX TOPfor this box. Included in this box are 14 ornaments in various shapes andsizes:
- 3Round Balls – 1 purple, 1 opalescent pink and pale silvery blue – about 2 ½” indiameter all with the white design on both sides of each ball. The design says, “Merry Christmas” and has apretty poinsettia design underneath it.The tops all say, “MADE IN USA”.
- 2Round Balls – 1 Bright pink, 1 Silver with a pale blue wide center stripe andthin yellow stripe at the top and thin pink stripe at the bottom – about 2 ¼”in diameter both with a white Children’s/Christmas toys pattern aroundthem. Included in this pattern are a toyduck, clown, teddy bear, sailboat and little boy on a stick horse; and thereare blocks interspersed throughout the design.The tops say, “SHINY BRITE MADE IN USA”.
- 1Silver Round Ball with blue and white thin painted on stripes about 2” indiameter. The small top has no markings.
- 2Silver Round balls, each with a feather painted top (one pale blue the otherpale pink) and three think strips painted around the ornaments (white, pink,white on the one with the blue top, and white, yellow, white on the one withthe pink top). About 2 ¼” in diameter. Both tops say, “MADE IN USA”.
- 1Clear Glass Ornament in the shape oflantern, about 3” tall. The top andbottom are painted blue, the middle section is tinted pink with a yellow thinstripe at the top and bottom of the tinted glass and indentations on eachside. Small metal top has no markings
- 2Silver Glass Ornaments that sort of look like hanging Japanese lanterns, each a little over 3” long. One has a pink thick stripe around the top,two thin yellow lines around the middle and a thick blue/green stripe aroundthe bottom. The other one has bluearound the top and bottom and gold above the bottom blue with indentations onboth sides. The small metal tops have nomarkings.
- 3Silver UFO Shaped (see pictures!) SilverGlass Ornaments all about 2 ½” long. Twohave a bluish green top and the other a deep pink top. They all have pink, white and green stripesaround the middle. The tops all say,SHINY BRITE MADE IN USA”.
The third 9” by 6 ¾” by 2 ¼” box that says“SHINY BRITE GLASS Christmas TREE ORNAMENTS Main Office & Display Rooms MaxEckhardt & Sons, Inc. 45 East 17th Street New York City”. The box bottom is in REMARKABLE CONDITION,still intact, the box top has been split and taped at two of the corners. Includedin this box are 12 Ornaments, all round balls single color:
- 5Red about 2” in diameter, the tops all say “MADE IN USA”
- 7Round Balls - 3 Red, 3 Silver & 1 Silver with greenish tint - about 1 ¾” indiameter, the tops all say “SHINY BRITE MADE IN USA”
