On offer is a lot of 4 large-scale, onionskin maps of what are now New York City\'s northern suburbs, including Yonkers, Fishkill, Fishkill on the Hudson, Matteawan and Singsing. They were originally published byin 1867, just after the Civil War, in the first edition of Frederick Beers’ scarce Atlas of New York and Vicinity. They provide an array of information about the towns and region, including businesses in operation at the time and the names of individual homeowners and farmers along with the location of their properties.
The Yonkers sheet measures 33in by 23in, the Singsing sheet (which is torn in half) 25in by 22.5in, the Fishkill on the Hudson sheet 24in by 24.5in, and the Fishkill sheet 26in by 20in. Some are damaged as in the pictures, and all are creased in spots.
These are original maps. They are not modern reproductions.
