Recently purchased at an Estate sale in my area and now up for your saleing pleasure is this vintage Lot of (4) Cracker Jack/Gumball Machine metal animal charms. The gentleman whose Estate these items came from was an avid collector of Cracker Jack charms, prizes, premiums and related items and over the years had amassed a huge collection from which I purchased several mixed plastic bags. These bags were an assortment of very early metal prizes, as well as swirled plastic pieces, games, toys and many other cool items to numerous to mention. Most of these items were Cracker Jack but it appears that there were many that came from Gumball Machines. I have located a couple of these items while doing my research and it appears that these charms are from the 1920\'s-1940\'s.
In this Lot Of (4) metal animal charms, you will receive, a Billy Goat, an Elephant, a Bear and a Donkey. These animals are all solid metal. What kind of metal I am not sure. I am not an expert on metals but I believe it is pot metal or cast aluminum based on its color and the fact that a magnet will not stick to any of them. The Bear and Elephant both have four legs and short, stocky body structures and are grayish in color. The Billy Goat and Donkey also have four legs and seem to be more detailed and slightly taller with thinner body structures. The Bearded Billy Goat appears to originally have been gold in color. This can still be seen in depressed areas but has been mostly worn off over the years. The Donkey has two long ears (both attached) and is painted in what appears to be a light green color. All of these charms have metal loops on their backs for attachment. There are no identifying marks on any of these pieces.
