Offered for the beauty of your table is this lovely vintage French faience open salt cellar.

This is from the oldest faience factory in France. It was known as the BOUT DU MONDE which means \"the end of the earth\".

It opened in 1648 in Nevers which is in central France.

In 1875 Antoine Montaignon bought it. Francois-Henri Signoret was the master faiencier and he came up with the famous green bow for the signature.

This one ends with the initials J.M. whhich stand for Jean Montagnon.

This piece is hand painted with what seems to be two cherries in the center of the bowl.

It is painted around the rim and on all 4 sides.

It is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks.

There are a few tiny glaze skips where the glaze did not cover all the way and we can see a bit of the terracotta which is normal for this type of wears.

It measures 2.5 inches wide and stands one inch tall.

This will be a lovely addition to your antique and vintage open salt collection or give as a fabulous gift!
