Rare Civil Appointment signed by Lyndon B. Johnson as President and Dean Rusk as Secretary of State. Dean Rusk (1909-1994) was Secretary of State throughout the Kennedy and Johnson administrations, and only Cordell Hull served in the office longer than Secretary Rusk. One page document measures 16\"x19.5\". Civil Appointment executed at the city of Washington, February 7, 1968; Appointing Allan A. Glatthorn of Pennsylvania a Member of the National Council on the Humanities for a term of six years expiring January 26, 1974. Both the signatures of President Lyndon B. Johnson and Secretary of State Dean Rusk are clean and clearly legible. Although there are partial stains on the document the main body and signatures have not been effected. The document has been professionally deacidified and mold treated to negate further paper effects. The embossed paper Seal of the United States is totally intact, and the overall document is in fine condition.
