This is a gorgeous antique Limoges chocolate cup and saucer set made in France by Martial Redon between 1881 and 1896. It is fine Limoges eggshell porcelain with hand painted florals and sponged gold accents. The cup has a blown out molded design, and the porcelain is very thin and translucent. The saucer is not as thin, and has a molded pattern of tiny flowers and ruffles around the pie crust edge. The painted florals are outlined in burnished gold. The flowers appear to be woodland bluebells, and the shape of the cup compliments the subject. The porcelain is white with a pale blue wash around the rims. The cup is 3\" tall and 2 1/2\" across the top at the handle. The handle is delicate with a slight curve from the top to the bottom right. The saucer is 4 1/2\" across. The set is in excellent and a collector\'s dream! I have another cup in this shape with different florals listed in a seperate sale, and will gladly combine shipping.
