$305.00
This is a magnificent large mid 19th century gothic oak wood church pew end. Dating c.1860.
A truly stunning church pew end with abundant and intricate relief carvings. The top of the pew end - which is in the shape of a shamrock - is carved to both sides with interlocking leaves on the stem and with two large fruits. From the head, a slender \'stem neck\' joins to the body of the pew end. To the front this area is deeply carved with leaves on the stem and with a row of several large fruits (apples). At the bottom of the pew end is a carved mouse and at the opposite end a carved caterpillar.
Overall this piece measures some 24\" height x 12\" width at bottom x max depth 3\". The shamrock shaped head of pew end itself measures some 8.5\" x 8\" max width.
The condition is excellent and age commensurate. Some inconsequential age cracks and some minor bits of of wood nicked/broken to edges but nothing at all of any significance. Beautiful! All as per images.
A magnificent large mid 19th century gothic solid oak carved church pew end. A very heavy and solid piece.
