Beautiful Antique Bonnet Chest. I was told ny an ecpert that it was made a out 1840 and ithe style is country empire. I purchased this from an estate of a Wealthy Austin, Texas Antique Dealer and Entreprener. He was also the owner of The Famous Wateterloo Compound! All offers considered! I was also told that it is birch and from Canada.. French Quebec, but the antique appraiser could not verify it, however he did say it came from the NorthEastern USA or Canada.This very unique piece measures 51.5\" wide, 21\" deep, 48.25\" tall. It is a very large and sturdy piece!The age is very apparent with the square nails, wooden pegs, dovetailing hand carving and unusual craftsmanship in the joint construction. It almost has a folk art style to it with the primitive carved heart embellishment!This chest of drawers has the \"4 over 3\" drawer arrangement. There are two bonnet drawers on each side of the two center glove drawers. All drawers slide easily. There is no structural damage to this incredible piece of history! There is a small area on the left side near the bottom that appears to have been scratched during a move. Excellent condition for the age!!!Serious buyers only.
