This is the rare Variant version of Marvel Masterworks VolumeTwenty-Nine, thetwenty-ninth book in the Masterwork series that collects the finest issues published by Marvel Comics. Marvel Master Works books are deluxe edition high quality reprint books of some of Marvel\'s greatest issues, including covers, from both the Silver and Bronze Age. They are hardcover books with dust jackets, and printed on very thick high quality paper, designed to last a very long time. This great hardback book features some of the earliest adventures of The Man Without Fear. This book features original Daredevil issues #12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, and 21, from 1966, and is Daredevil Volume Two. The issues feature story, art, and covers by the legendary team of Stan Lee and John Romita Sr., along with Denny O\'Neil, Jack Kirby, and Gene Colan. Included are early SA appearances by Ka-Zar, the introduction and first appearances of the Plunderer and the Masked Marauder, the origin and first appearance of the Gladiator, as well as a classic early 2 part Spider-man crossover story in DD #16-17. Spidey\'s appearance in issue #16 marks John Romita\'s first Spiderman art (from May 1966, predating by several months the classic Amazing Spider-man #39 issue with Spidey vs. the Green Goblin that began his long run on ASM). So there are some major key issues included in this great collection.

This book is 224 pages long, and includes an introduction by Stan Lee (legendary creator of the Avengers, the Mighty Thor, the Amazing Spiderman, the X-Men, the Fantastic Four, the Incredible Hulk, and countless other classic Marvel characters and teams). This hard cover book indust jacket is in excellent unread condition, and is a fantastic copy of this hard to find book. This isa truly great way to own expensive classics that might otherwise be unobtainable. Even if you have the originals, this is a great way to be able to read the stories and admire the artwork and covers without having to worry about handling the actual issues and damaging them. Highly recommended for anyDD or comic book fan. Daredevil is also getting increased attention since the Daredevil movie, starring Ben Affleck as DD, Jennifer Garner as Elektra, and Colin Farrell as Bullseye, and now apparently an upcoming series as well. If you\'ve read themore recentcomics and want to know more, this book gives you the early beginnings of the DD saga, from the mid-1960\'s,around 50 years ago.

Please note that this is the special Variant edition of this book, which was re-released by Marvel in what is likely the smallest limited edition they have ever made. There were only460 copies of this book released in the entire world. As stated on the back cover of the dust jacket: \"Marvel Comics is proud to present the Masterworks library in this special limited-printing collector\'s edition featuring the classic format. This printing is limited to460 copies\". Bear in mind that this volume was not released as part of the original run of MM books, so the only way to get this volume with the special cover, is in this extremely limited Variant release. All of the Variant MM books are rare, but manyare availablewith the \"marble\" cover in the original run of the books. This is one of a select few Masterworks that can be seen with the red cover in this edition only. So completists, take special note. Also, the original printings of several hard to find Marvel Masterworks books routinely sold in theseveral hundred dollarrange. However, those books did not have a limited release like this one. As hard as it would have beento imagine, thisbook is even rarer than those earlier MM\'s, so what value does that put on this rarest of books?
