This set was made in the 1800\'s, I believe the Victorian Era. This is evident by the numbered stopper and bottle (number 27) which was done in that period. The numbered matching pieces are very RARE to find and shows it is a real Mary Gregory and of that time period. It has a pontil at the bottom and has a paneled body. As history of Mary Gregory, she painted on glassware with white enamel paint giving it an almost cameo affect. The Mary Gregory glass painted with children was painted after her tenure as a glass painter. Figures using the addition of colored flesh and hair was painted in Europe. The glass itself was also made in Europe (Bohemia or Bohemian glass) which is mouth blown into molds which produced lighter thinner glass and the pontil marks on the bottom. Please look over all the pictures to see the beauty of this piece.
The ewer/decanter stands approximately 11.5\" tall and is about 4.5\" in diameter. The handle is applied. There is a pontil mark on the bottom of the pitcher. The figure on the pitcher is of a young female child standing with her flowers.
It is such a pretty piece. I did not clean the inside, I tend to be clumsy due to a spinal cord injury. I had the matching ewer/decanter with the male, tried to wash it and, of course, broke it in a million pieces. This lovely piece did survive because I did not try to clean it. LOL Your purchase will be fully insured.
