DESCRIPTION: This isa RARE and STUPENDOUS sterling silvernecklacethat was hand wrought in Mexico, after 1980,by master silver designer and artist, RICARDO SALAS of MATL.The MATL shop was opened in 1934 by Matilde Poulat who was a painter and designer after studying at the San Carlos Academy of Art."MATL" is a variation of the Aztec word for water. Her designs are some of the most unique and beautiful in Mexican jewelry.Matilde trained her nephew, Ricardo Salas, as a jeweler and he worked by her side until her death in 1960, and continued making MATL treasures after her deathwhichwere marked MATL, along with "Salas" and/or "MS-12". Ricardo Salas passed away in 2005.This spectacularnecklace is masterfully crafted in an artistic and timeless motif ~ most of MATL's jewelryhasgemstone accents and this necklace is all sterling silver, so it is a rare find! It consists of baroque style sterling silver links that have delicate texturing and hand chasing that took many, many hours to produce~ they are exquisitely detailed! The centers of the links have tiny silver beads that are set within circular silver frames and aresurrounded with feminine silver scrollwork and silver coils. The links are connected at the top and bottom with decorative soldered silver links that are part of the design which gives the necklace beautiful, uninterrupted design flow.The clasp is a tongue and box closure that works perfectly and closes with a crisp 'click'.The silverhas acquired a wonderful, soft patina that reflects the shadows created by the depth of the designs.This necklaceis extremely well made in an endearing design by RICARDO SALASof MATL~ sure to bring forth lots of compliments ~ it is heirloom and collector quality ~ quite simply, THE BEST!!!PLEASE BE SURE TO SEE THE MATCHING EARRINGS THAT ARE ALSO LISTED.
