This is a great Victorian Aesthetic period c1880 figural silver plate nut bowl by Meriden. It is not marked but I have seen the exact piece with the Meridan signature. The piece is quite large and impressive. There is a large cracked open walnut for the bowl with a squirrel holding a nut on the top edge. The base iscomposed of a lily pad with two figural flowers. There are fourtwig feet with leaves. The piece measures 11\" tall by 9 1/2\" by 8\". The silver plating is all worn to the base metal. There are no breaks or damage that I see... but there is one of the nuts missing from the bottom that holds one of the flowers in place (so it is loose). This is an easy fix. The other nuts on the bottom look to be replacements and not original. This is a really neat piece of Victorian figuralsilver plate. You will love it. Free shipping in the US!
