Hereis a purist\'s dream! An early mid century accent lamp that
dates to the 1948-51 period. This is the sort of whimsical and new modernist
style that was taking over the world. From Italy to New York
and across the west to Beverly Hills, the people with contemporary tastes
made these type of lamps a staple in living spaces.The tripod design gives an airy, buoyant look. In this period you had goose necks
elevating lamps on slender stalks and tripods doing the same thing.
The goal was for the lamp shade to have as little connection with the ground or
surface as possible. This was not true just with lighting, but was the goal for
all postwar furnishings! Sofas, chairs and planters all were floating over the ground,
and this was the cure for a century of heavy, cumbersome furniture
that seemed weighed down, not just by its materials, but by time itself. This lamp celebrates that new visionary period and the colorful red shade
pokes a vibrant hole in old school Chippendale and colonial interior design!
Where the craftsman and woodworker was revered in the past,

No wood was anywhere in sight! This was a stylish machine - a vision that
lived in the now and looked towards the future!The brass is still lustrous and the red enameled
shade has some general wear, but looks great. Brass diffuser
clips on to the bulb and the lamp turns on/off with a switch.Lamp is stunning!
