MINT NEW CHIN STRAP FOR M1 US ARMY VIETNAM ERA \"STEEL POT\" COMBAT HELMET NOS :
$11.61

This sale is forONE mint, never-issued two-pieceM1 helmet replacement chinstrap. It comes out of an original sealed box from the original manufacturer. It is genuine US government issue, NOT a reproduction or copy. The metal parts of the strap were produced by North and Judd Mfg. Co. in New Britain, Connecticut (whose logo was the anchor*) between 1965 and 1972 . It has OD#7 (olive green) cotton webbing. The metal finish is a dull black-oxide with crimp-on tabs for easy attachment to the bales (using pliers). It has the T1 \"ball and hook\" release and is correct for the post-Korea through post-Vietnam period (1958 -1982) but can also be used on WWII and Korean era helmets. Strap is 16inches long when the two sides are connected. You get everything you need to finish one steel-pot helmet.

Do not confuse these with the thinner metal \"NATO\" chinstraps sold elsewhere on . They don\'t call them NATO straps and they look similar and will work ok but if the metal parts are painted shiny black, they\'re not US made.

These types of straps were used by US Forces from 1944 until about 1982, when Kevlar helmets became available. These T1 chinstraps were replaced around 1978 by nylon/cotton split-chin hook-in straps that didn\'t require pliers for installation and looked somewhat similar to airborne straps and were individually packaged.

Let me know if you\'d like a strap with an anchor. Unless you tell me otherwise, at checkout or when you pay, I will ship one without the anchor. See the illustration above. These two types of straps are identical except for the anchor stamping*. The anchor did not represent USMC, although the USMC also used these straps.

You are offerding on ONE chinstrap of your choice, NOT TWO. Original boxes that your strap will come from are shown for reference only and are not included. All original straps come from these boxes of 50 and were never individually packaged.

Shipping by first class mail is FREE in the US and $3 to anywhere else (my actual overseas shipping cost is about $6). Delivery confirmation is included in the US. In the event of loss outside the US we will provide proof of mailing only.

*Apparently, the anchorlogo was used intermittently in the 50\'s and 60\'s and was discontinued when the originalmanufacturer, North and Judd, was acquired by Gulf and Western Industries in1967. Chinstraps produced after 1967 had NO anchor although some boxes dated as late as 1969 sometimes contained some anchor straps.Overseas buyers: I will combine shipping on multiple purchases. Wait for my invoice before paying. That last photo above is me, wearing my M1 \"steel pot\" somewhere in the \"Iron Triangle\" in Vietnam on March 30 1969 (Purple Heart Day). I served with the First Infantry Division (Big Red One) and 11th Armored Cav June 1968 to May 1969.
