STRAIGHT FROM AN OLD COLLECTION HERE IN CONNECTICUT. THIS GREAT PIECE WAS PURCHASED OVER FORTY YEARS AGO AT A LOCAL ESTATE SALE IN EasterN CONNECTICUT.

AN EXTREMELY RARE 18TH CENTURY AMERICAN WOODEN SCREW ARM ADJUSTABLE CANDLE HOLDER WITH RARE ADDED CANDLE TRAY, NEW ENGLAND, Circa 1760-1790 WITH TURNED PEG LEGS, OLD SURFACE AND PATINA AND THE BEST CARVED DOUBLE CANDLE ARM. The candle cups have wonderful old burn wear as seen in the photos. They are still fully intact and strong, one has an added tin candle cup.

THIS IS AN EXTREMELY RARE AND IMPORTANT PIECE OF EARLY AMERICAN LIGHTING.

THE FORM IS THE VERY BEST. THE SHADOW MOLDED BASE STILL HAS ITS ORIGINAL THREE TURNED LEGS. THE SHAFT IS MORTISED INTO THE BASE.

IT HAS VERY EARLY AND RARE CONSTRUCTION TECHNIQUE. THE SHAFT IS MADE OF TWO SEPARATE PIECES. THREADED PORTION OF THE TOP FITS INTO THE BASE AND IS HELD IN BY ITS ORIGINAL BRASS KNOB.

THERE IS A VERY RARE TURNED ROUND CANDLE TRAY IN THE CENTER. THE CANDLE ARM IS FULLY INTACT. THERE ARE TWO THREADED CANDLE HOLES. ONE SIDE HAS AN ADDED 19TH CENTURY TIN CANDLE CUP.

It is in wonderful original condition with GREAT OLD COLOR AND PATINA. It has great match marks on the underside of the candle arm.

No repairs, restorations or additions.
