This item is a very beautiful Margot Ballerina doll made in the late 1950\'s by Madame Alexander.
She is a 16 inch doll with a hard plastic head, body, and legs. Her arms are a softer rubber like material.
She wears her original hot pink panties and tutu, trimmed with netting and fabric flowers. She also wears her original tights.
Her hair is auburn and is curled into a topknot trimmed with flowers.
Her arms and legs are jointed. Clearly this girl was meant to pose and dance.
At first glance, she appears to be perfect, but she does have some minor issues that I want to mention:
there are stains on her panties, and their elastic is loose
her stockings are coming apart at the seam at the back of her left foot
she has some white material (mold I think) on her eyelids as shown
there is a small split in the soft material at her left shoulder joint
she has a few stray marks on her forehead, neck, and leg
her ballet slippers are missing
her head is a bit loose
I believe that all of these issues, with the possible exception of the spots on the panties, can be repaired by an experienced restorer.
Her positives far outweighs these negatives. They include:
her Margaret face is gorgeous
Her hair is tight in its original style
her clothes have been soaked and dried in the sunshine and should not need further washing
her stringing is excellent except for some looseness at her head
the pink blush on her face and hands is intact
her tutu is tagged as shown
her legs and arms bend and straighten well
