It will not have the watermark as is shown on our sample, however it will include the name of the buyer and the actual price realized at the end of the class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"mso-pagination:none\">Here we bring to sale this incredible antique large brooch made of multi faceted prong set cut crystal rhinestones set in their original silver plated over brass base. This piece is sure to delight you and everyone who sees you wearing it just as it did when owned and worn by one of the 20th Centuries most glamorous Movie Stars: Mae West.
Mae often tested people, especially reporters and authors who wished to interview her..as if she wanted to make sure they’d done their homework prior to meeting with them. She could be as sweet as a kitten or as shrewd as many of the characters she played in her films.
Mae also told the author she wore the brooch to the Coconut Grove and other Hollywood hot spots and it was one of her favorite pieces. The brooch is quite large measuring nearly 2-3/4” long by 2” wide and retains its original well working pin clasp on back which is slightly bent also from age and use.
As you can see in our photo images here, the rhinestones are of 3 different sizes and frame a larger oval shaped center stone that would weigh over four carats if a real gem. The largest center stone has slight surface scratches however this doesn\'t detract from its beauty. Mae also told the author how she loved when fans thought the stones were real diamonds and that she preferred to wear large jewelry because it fit the theme of her stardom.
In later years, this piece was one of her staples in her live Las Vegas stage show in the 1970’s. You’ll also read her comments about knowing and working with Randolph Scott and Cary Grant, who she highly respected due to their charm, charisma, and professionalism. She appreciated the well dressed man with high self esteem as Randy and Cary Grant possessed all their lives.
It has been photographed to appear in the new books: “Jewels of the Movie Stars and the Glamour of Hollywood’s Past,” & “Collectibles of the Stars” both by well known Hollywood Historian, Antique dealer: Michael J. Kouri, currently the published author of over 60 books on a variety of subjects.
