Featured in this sale is a beautiful, vintage flower vase made by Peters & Reed or the Zane Pottery Company. This vase is unmarked but isidentified in the collector\'s guide Sanford\'s Guide to Peters & Reed / The Zane Pottery Company by Martha and Steve Sanford as the #49 vase in the very rare and highly-desirable \"Blue Marbelized\" finish.This unusual piece has a lustrous, deep-blue underglaze with drips of black and gold glaze that create the \"marbleized\" effect on the piece.This vase has a sleek and beautifully-tapered Mission design with sixcolumnar sides,a bulbous base, and a hexagonal mouth.Interestingly enough, this same vase form was also produced in different sizes by other early-American art potteries such as Zanesville Stoneware.This vase is in excellent condition with no chips, no cracks, fine overall crazing, and no repairs. I found glaze rubs, a glaze pinhole just inside the rim, and very minor scuffing in the high-gloss finish from gentle use. However, this example is in near-mint condition.This piece most likely dates to the 1920\'s or 1930\'s.This vase is approximately 10-1/4\" tall, 4-3/4\" wide at the body, and almost 2\" wide at the rim opening.
