These are fabulous marble boxes. They have mother of pearl, the orange is what looks to be carnelian and maybe agate. I found a website describing how they make these and the style is called Pietra Dura which means Hardstone in Latin and Parchin Kari in Hindi. Some of these boxes are made out of white also. The stone lace on the sides of 3 of them is called Jali which means just that \"stone lace\". They are all different in sizes 2 big, 2 small. Dimensions: Heart-shaped one is 2&3/4\" long, width at the top across the heart shape is 2&1/2\" and 1 inch deep w/o lid, w/lid it\'s 1&1/4\" tall. It has 2 flowers on top, one blooming other is in the bud form both are Mother of Pearl and under is Carnelian (orange) then the stem. The other is Cloud shaped and it\'s 3&1/4 long, 2&1/2 wide, 1\" deep w/o lid and w/lid 1&1/4\". This one has 3 flowers on the same stem, 2 buds and 1 full bloom. (these are the BIG ones) Both have the laced sides(Jali).
The 2 small ones: the rectangle is 2\"long and 1&1/2 wide by 1\" tall w/o lid, w/lid 1&1/4\"tall. It has 3 flowers, 2buds and 1 full on one stem. The other looks like a small cloud but without the laced sides. It\'s 2&1/4 long, 1&3/4\" wide by 1\"tall w/o lid, w/lid 1&1/4\"tall. It has 2 flowers on 2 stems 1 full and 1 bud.
