I bought this doll for $5.00 at a thrift store about 20 years ago.She was absolutely horrible looking.She had tattered clothing, a few thin strands of hair, and a face that looked like the San Andreas Fault ran through it.(see photo of back of neck.)
I puttied and sanded, plastered and sanded, painted and sanded.I got some old sheer curtains, a piece of white felt, some Czech glass buttons, some odd beads and an old wig, and went to work.
I then gifted her to my dear mother, Marguerite, who enjoyed her for 20 years.
I don\'t profess to be a seamstress or an artist.If you look very closely, I think you can still see traces of that classic boudoir doll face.Her head, (albeit altered), body, pantaloons, and shoes are original.She is missing one finger.She measures 27\" long.
I have artfully hidden her existing cracks, she is in far from perfect condition.But I think she is quite pretty, and worthy of display.
I hope that whoever buys her continues to call her \'Marguerite\' in honor of my wonderful mother!
